Completed October 2012
530 Avenue J South, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada
Located on the edge of Saskatoon’s revitalized cultural core, within walking and biking distance of many amenities. Wolf Willow is an apartment-style condominium of 21 fully self-contained, accessibility-designed homes built for active, engaged seniors. Green building principles guided construction throughout, including 2×8 walls with R40 insulation, triple-glazed windows, and in-floor radiant heating.
The approximately 4,400 sq ft of common facilities includes a kitchen and dining area large enough for whole-community meals, a lounge, small office, music room, craft room, two guest rooms, common laundry, workshop, exercise room, and sauna. Private homes also have space for a washer and dryer. Several common decks and gardens provide space for growing herbs, vegetables, fruit trees, and ornamentals. The building has secured parking and elevator access.
Ronaye Matthew’s company, Cohousing Development Consulting, facilitated site selection, prepared the feasibility study, and provided full-service cohousing development management from October 2009 through completion in October 2012.
