Located on approximately 5 acres on the east-sloping, forested side of Bowen Island, within a 15-minute walk of Snug Cove village and a 20-minute ferry ride to Metro Vancouver. The site is surrounded by forests, creeks, and nature trails, with mountain views across Howe Sound.
Vehicles and parking are kept at the perimeter, with a meandering pedestrian pathway linking the upper and lower parts of the site as the 30 homes step down the slope. The community includes 25 market and 5 non-market (affordable) stacked townhouse homes ranging from 500 sq ft one-bedroom units to 1,250 sq ft three-bedroom units, in a variety of one- and two-level floor plans for singles, couples, and families.
The approximately 4,000 sq ft common house includes a kitchen and dining area, two guest rooms, a children’s playroom, a multi-purpose room, and a workshop on the lowest level.
Ronaye Matthew’s company, Cohousing Development Consulting, provided development management services covering designation and density approvals, membership building, rezoning and subdivision, and construction, completing in July 2015.
